Trauma Therapy Spokane
PTSD and Trauma Therapy in Spokane, Washington
Terrible memories keep popping into your head. They show up in nightmares. Sometimes it feels like it’s happening all over again. You’ve tried everything you can think of to ignore the memories: constantly keeping busy, staying away from reminders, having an extra glass of wine. But the memories won’t go away.
You don’t feel like yourself.
You’re constantly on edge, ready for the worst to happen. Things you used to do all the time - grocery shopping, visiting friends or family, hobbies - feel too overwhelming or take too much of your energy. In the worst moments, you feel like you’ve lost yourself and you wonder how you can possibly keep going.
Trauma Therapy for PTSD can help.
My name is Lauren Koch, PhD. I’m a licensed psychologist and a certified prolonged exposure trauma therapist in Spokane, WA. I help people who have experienced trauma (i.e., natural disasters, assaults, combat, or other life-threatening experiences) learn to cope with difficult thoughts and feelings in trauma’s aftermath. Together, we work toward living a meaningful life instead of one ruled by fear and PTSD.
In the midst of hard emotions, I balance empathy with humor and levity. I am a collaborator. I don’t have all the answers, but I can guide you through the process of learning to live in the now instead of being stuck in memories of the past. Life doesn’t have to continue to feel so overwhelming.
I’ve been privileged to see many of my patients get better. They say they have gone from feeling lost to feeling excited about life. They stop living with restrictions and start enjoying the things they love as the weight of PTSD is lifted. Some say they’ve grown in unexpected and exciting ways.
